The beginning of the 2011 autumn brings the 5th Eco-marathon of Chianti to the province of Siena: the sports event which attracts hundreds of runners, professionals and amateurs, to this land. The Bulletta, the organizing group, has been working for a long time to make the 16th October event unforgettable, with a course running along the most charming landscapes of Tuscany: from Crete Senesi to Montaperti and Montegiachi and Sestaccia with its castles, or the cypress road of Villa Arceno.
Three different courses have been prepared this year too: the classical 42 Kilometers run along the roads of Chianti; the 18 Km. long Ecotrail and - last but not least – the 10 Km long Ecopasseggiata (i.e. Eco-walk) from San Gusmé to Castelnuovo Berardenga. Many side-events have been organized along the way: pupils and students will be busy painting, and running a small marathon too. You'll also find some stalls with food and typical products.
Last year we had over 1800 participants despite the bad weather: Adriano Pinamonti won the men race, while Monica Casiraghi won among the women, even if every participant to the Eco-marathon of Chianti knows it: victory is not important, what really counts is to relax in the green landscapes of Tuscany, and – why not? – satisfy your appetites with the final Pasta party.
