In summer Sienna shines more than ever because of the arriva of main event of the year, the Palio Horce Race, an internationally relevant event that Italy boasts has one of his most prestigious.
All the people is really lookin' forward to the exciting "career" (so it's called the race): clearly the sienese people first of all but there are also a lot of curious tourists from Italy and from all over the world. The dates are always the same, those of July 2 and August 16, the days of the Palio di Provenzano (in honor of the Madonna di Provenzano) and dell'Assunta (hust to celebrate Madonna Assunta).

In fact, the Siena Palio Horse Race lives 365 days a year, this is the preparation time that the legendary competition between the many Contradas(seventeen to be exact) requires: this explains the reason why the atmosphere in the city in the days of the Palio seems to be almost unreal: it is a manifestation that the city's residents live every day with connotations perhaps even completely understandable to those not born there.

Every time is impossible to remain indifferent to emotions and adrenaline that gives the carousel horse in the crowdy Piazza Del Campo. The festive atmosphere is in every corner of Sienna, where adults and children are all together for once in streets and squares, in a riot of colorful flags waving ancient banners, between torches, drums and dinners that recall old rituals and medieval traditions.
