The 4th Contemporaneamente Barocco Festival (i.e. Contemporary Baroque Festival) of Siena will disclose the enchanting Baroque world with shows, concerts, films, lectures and other events, connecting the Baroque age to the contemporary times.
The 2011 Festival, from October 7th to 23rd, is dedicated to Renaissance and Baroque music, although with an original approach: we want to show the meeting between past and present time, and the dialogue between different means of expression. This is not just a simple music festival, but a cultural project which aims at deepening the world of love passions.
This is also a way to experience some of the most beautiful artistic places of the town, where art and history of Siena still meet today. Music will be joined by movies theatre, architecture, arts.
The great opening is dedicated to two contemporary artists: Petra Magoni and Ferruccio Spinetti, who will look at the Baroque repertoire through contemporary pop music. The famous Ensemble La Venexiana will guide us through the 17th century atmosphere, with pieces by Monteverdi and Ferrari. Passion and angelic love present in the Tuscan ballads will be revised by Viva Biancaluna Biffi. The French and German Baroque will be performed by Christophe Coin, an artist of viola and cello, with a program completely dedicated to Bach and Marais. Contemporary theatre will be present with a Cyrano by Michele Santeramo and Giorgio Vendola. The festival closes with the extraordinary Atalante Ensemble, and a concert dedicated to women of Baroque: love and poetry become music in 17th century Rome.
The program includes also movies, debates, musical workshops, guided tours in the town, concerts in local museums and school projects.
